"We are not surprised at such an announcement on climate change by Prime Minister Gillard" said Julie Pettett, CEO, Conservation SA.
"Ms Gillard had earlier signalled that there needed to be community consensus on climate action and now she has revealed what this means with her Citizens' Assembly.
"In reality, for millions of Australian's who were expecting to see real and immediate actions on climate change this is a big disappointment as it means further delays on meaningful action," said Ms Pettett.
"Whilst we are extremely disappointed that there hasn't been a price on carbon we are cautiously optimistic at the new funding to connect renewable energy, though we would also like to see further funding to build more renewable energy power stations," said Ms Pettett.
